Tony covers home energy monitoring, EV charging, and solar integration for Smart Home Picklist. A former electrical contractor with NABCEP certification, he has installed enough subpanels, CT clamps, and Level 2 chargers to know exactly where the wiring catches inspectors out and where homeowners overspend. He spends most of his testing time benchmarking how energy monitors handle real loads — heat pumps, induction ranges, EV chargers cycling at 40 amps — instead of the well-lit lab demos manufacturers prefer. He still owns the first Sense monitor he installed in 2019 and uses it as his baseline for every new product he reviews.
